0:00 Caller: Hey, how are you?
0:00 You: Hey Jeremy, glad we caught you.
0:07 Caller: Yeah, how's everything?
0:09 You: I'm glad I caught you.
0:11 Caller: Yeah, how's everything?
0:13 You: Just summer has come into New York.
0:18 You: I'm trying to
0:20 Caller: Yeah, I know.
0:20 You: to come to terms with that.
0:22 You: It's already exceptional going to and from Midtown.
0:27 Caller: Yeah, it's hot today.
0:29 Caller: I actually went to the beach yesterday.
0:31 Caller: I went out to Long Beach in Long Island.
0:33 Caller: Yeah.
0:33 You: Oh, nice.
0:36 Caller: So, by the way, did you
0:40 Caller: have the AIBC interview yet or that's today right okay okay great okay great yeah what do you think
0:40 You: That's tomorrow.
0:44 You: I already submitted the case study yesterday, so they're welcome to trawl through it.
0:50 You: It's live, it's working, so I just need to present it.
0:55 You: I saw the drops back you sent over.
0:57 You: My two.
1:00 Caller: My thought is it's probably the level above, yeah.
1:00 You: two things do you know if this is at the inference layer actually tuning a fleet of
1:04 You: GPUs or is it one level above building the things that consume the GPU inference
1:14 You: okay the job description mentioned something about on-prem inference but it wasn't clear if that
1:19 You: Thank you.
1:20 Caller: I'm not 100% sure, so I don't know all of the details or anything, but it was just brought
1:20 You: artifact from my previous version of the roll no problem
1:30 Caller: up to me like, hey, you know what Jed actually looks really good for this lead role that
1:34 Caller: we're trying to fill in the actual hedge fund, like, you know, the parent company of Cove.
1:40 Caller: So I wanted to run that by you and see if that's something that you're into.
1:40 You: Certainly willing to explore.
1:45 You: And then does the team already exist or would that be coming after this role is filled?
1:46 Caller: Okay.
1:52 Caller: There are definitely people that work on the Gen A.I. team.
1:55 Caller: I am positive of that.
1:56 Caller: I just don't know how robust the team is.
2:00 Caller: You know, I could tell you two people that I'm aware of that aren't necessarily engineers, but there's a woman there named Jenna.
2:00 You: We're going to be.
2:02 You: We're going to be.
2:04 You: I'm
2:08 Caller: She came from Google X and is one of the co-heads of AI.
2:12 Caller: And then I introduced a gentleman named Joe Vasquez, who has been there for maybe like six, seven.
2:20 Caller: months or so and he's the head of AI partnerships. He was the co-founder of Stanford X as well
2:20 You: Thank you.
2:26 Caller: and actually comes from like a startup background. But he more so like goes out to all the players
2:33 Caller: and startups in the AI world and like figures out how to integrate their technology within
2:37 Caller: D.E. Shaw. So I'm positive there are an
2:40 Caller: engineers within the team.
2:40 You: Okay, so I guess those are questions I'd have to ask myself once they connect.
2:41 Caller: I just don't know how it's been built yet.
2:49 You: Does this run in parallel with the cove roll or should we shelve that one?
2:50 Caller: Yes.
2:54 Caller: I don't, I mean, I think it would run in parallel.
2:55 You: Thank you.
2:57 Caller: I just don't know why it's, you know, taking long.
3:00 Caller: but you know I figured why not explore this at the same time?
3:00 You: Okay. Then I agree. Happy to explore this D.E. Shaw direct role. And then you have all the resources, I think, about what I do and how I do it. So what would the next step be there?
3:07 Caller: I mean I would
3:20 Caller: I just have to get back to Erica's, the internal recruiter on this role and just let her know that you would be into it.
3:20 You: Excellent.
3:26 Caller: And then we'll just see where the cards fall from there.
3:32 You: Anything else you need for me?
3:34 Caller: No, that's it.
3:35 Caller: I figured why not explore as many avenues as possible?
3:40 Caller: especially you've got AIBC going on, so you know, you'll have plenty of stuff to choose from.
3:40 You: Understood.
3:46 You: All right.
3:47 You: Thank you very much, Jeremy.
3:49 Caller: All right, no problem. I'll be in touch.
3:50 You: Perfect.
3:52 You: We'll do.
3:52 Caller: And let me know how it goes tomorrow, too.
3:56 Caller: Okay, take care.
