0:00 Caller: Hey Jed, this is Andre from Oscar Fay, how are you?
0:00 You: Hello?
0:02 You: Hey, Andre, how can I help you?
0:07 Caller: Yeah, look, I wanted to catch up quickly.
0:12 Caller: Just got some feedback from Stone Ridge, so we're hoping to share that.
0:12 You: Yeah.
0:15 Caller: It's now a good time to connect for you.
0:17 You: Yeah.
0:19 Caller: Okay, great.
0:19 You: Thank you.
0:20 Caller: So Jedd, I'll just kind of give you a quick update.
0:21 You: Thank you.
0:23 You: Thank you.
0:24 Caller: So right now it looks like they're going to not be moving forward for the next round now.
0:29 Caller: Now, you know, based on the feedback you gave, I felt like it was really positive.
0:34 Caller: Now, I did reach out to follow up to gauge exactly what, you know, the concerns were, why we weren't moving forward.
0:42 Caller: So still waiting to hear that feedback.
0:44 Caller: But as now, the latest update is that they're going to be holding off on moving forward to that next round.
0:50 Caller: And as soon as I get some additional feedback, I'll be sure to share that with you, just to give you a heads up and keep in the loop on what they said.
0:53 You: Not specifically.
0:58 Caller: Now, you know, for me, obviously with your background, I think it is still quite impressive, especially for the platforms piece.
1:03 You: Not specifically actively looking. I do. I do have other processes in flight, but those are predominant.
1:05 Caller: Are you, are you active on the market right now? Are you kind of open to opportunities?
1:09 Caller: Are you looking to make a move? Because I would love to, you know, really gauge and see what's going on to figure out exactly where we could find an opportunity for you.
1:23 You: exploratory.
1:24 You: Well, it's the three things I look for in any role, right?
1:28 Caller: you'd be really open to or kind of looking for the next move or to just, you know, see what's out there and what catches your attention.
1:35 Caller: Yeah, love.
1:39 You: Data is both present and necessary.
1:41 You: The freedom to pursue what I genuinely think is the best solution to a problem.
1:46 You: And then the phrase, that's not my job, doesn't exist.
1:50 You: I see that as a sign of bureaucracy and I try to avoid it.
1:52 Caller: Yeah, love that.
1:52 You: try to avoid it. So the solution that I bring is predominantly automation. I wield all manner of tools
1:58 Caller: Okay, gotcha. Okay. Okay. Yeah, this is really helpful, actually, kind of giving me some insight. Now, you said you're having some exploratory conversation. What kind of companies are those with?
2:02 You: to bring that automation into the roles I enter. So it allows me to work across industries.
2:10 You: The industries that I typically avoid are ones where there is a high regulatory burden.
2:22 You: I have one quantitative hedge fund, a systematic hedge fund, a systematic hedge fund, two PE funds,
2:28 Caller: Yeah.
2:37 You: funds, and who's the last one, a travel company, trying to make, uh, no, they're trying to make AI search a thing.
2:43 Caller: Nice. Okay, that's the curveball.
2:50 You: I'm not, can, well,
2:51 You: The CEO persuaded me to pay them a visit on site one day, and I'll be doing that on Monday, so we'll see how that goes.
2:58 Caller: Nice. That's really cool. Okay. Okay. Cool. Yeah, no, I appreciate the heads up there.
3:06 Caller: Just kind of gauging the opportunities that you're targeting, which is really interesting. The finance piece, a lot of companies are not looking to, obviously, pivot into an AI-focused type of firm. So it makes sense that you're speaking with so many of the finance, some finance people internally. That's cool.
3:21 You: If there.
3:22 Caller: Now, you know, kind of moving forward, is there anybody as far as, like, names, companies?
3:28 Caller: any names that I can, you know, scratch off the list as I'm looking and digging into the market to see where there are opportunities anywhere where you wouldn't want to necessarily, you know, target any companies that you want me to avoid, anything along the gold line.
3:28 You: If there's a company to avoid it, it's because I've already been presented to them within the last year or whatever the cool off period is.
3:50 Caller: Okay, okay, got it. I guess that'll be case by case. You know, if I bring a name to you, just let me know if it's something you'd be open to or not, or if you've already
3:51 You: I have to go through my emails when you next come up with the name, so I can see when I last spoke with them, because I've been presented up and down the street over the last four years.
3:58 Caller: applied that would be helpful unless you know off the top of your head which
4:01 Caller: firms just to avoid off the bat. But yeah, either way. Okay. Yeah, no, no, fairs. Yeah, totally. Yeah, I get that.
4:15 You: Sometimes they end up in interviews, otherwise not.
4:17 You: But just keeping an eye on the reset clock is, uh,
4:21 You: is something I don't pay as much attention to as I should.
4:23 Caller: Yeah, no, no, fair. And it's all right.
4:28 Caller: you know, job hunting regardless whether you're working or not is a full-time job in itself,
4:32 Caller: so I totally get that. No worries there. It really is. It really is. That's a good way to put it.
4:39 Caller: Okay. All right. Great. No, this is really helpful. Okay, look, Jed, I'll keep you the loop on anything
4:44 Caller: that does come up. I appreciate this time. If you need anything at all on my end, you know,
4:48 Caller: don't hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, I'll get to kind of looking over here and keep you the loop on the
4:51 You: Sounds good. Thank you, Andre. You too.
4:53 Caller: opportunities that do come up. But feel free to reach out anytime as well. I would love to stay and talk.
4:58 Caller: regardless, all right? Great. Take care. Have a good one, Jed. Bye.
