0:00 Caller: Hi, Chad, it's Tommy.

0:00 You: This call will be recorded.

0:04 You: Hello.

0:07 You: Hello, Tommy.

0:09 Caller: How are you?

0:10 You: I'm well and yourself.

0:13 Caller: Yeah, very well, thanks for asking.

0:16 Caller: I appreciate you getting back to me promptly.

0:20 Caller: and, you know, carving out some time to talk.

0:20 You: Just now?

0:23 Caller: So I don't want to keep you too long.

0:25 Caller: I have just sent you an email, though.

0:27 Caller: I'm not sure if you picked it up

0:29 Caller: with another role in the same company.

0:33 You: I see.

0:33 Caller: Yeah, moments ago.

0:37 You: I see.

0:38 You: What is this?

0:40 Caller: So in, in terms of what they're aiming for, it's, it's pretty big.

0:40 You: I see. Do you have a sense of how big they mean by scale?

0:53 You: Do you have a sense of hundreds of servers?

1:00 Caller: these are things now I'm not quite at that technical so I'm more assisting someone within our business and just connecting them really so I wish I could tell you that

1:00 You: Planet scale, one data center, multiple availability zones, anything along those lines?

1:20 Caller: It's certainly something I can look up for you.

1:20 You: Thank you.

1:23 Caller: So I'll not pretend to be nearly as technical as you.

1:26 Caller: My job is really just to maybe open the door for you.

1:30 Caller: And, yeah, an act as the introduction agent.

1:36 Caller: Yeah, I've not long been working with Sesame.

1:40 Caller: And I'm pretty new to the business myself.

1:40 You: We're going to be.

1:43 Caller: It's a brand new client, a brand new domain.

1:47 Caller: But from what I saw, it seemed like it would be a good match.

1:52 Caller: And from the information I have, certainly quite an exciting prospect.

1:58 Caller: So what is that they do if you have...

2:00 Caller: looked into them already and they have these real-time speech agents very

2:00 You: We're going to be.

2:08 Caller: realistic they were they if they were interested they would arrange to

2:13 Caller: interview with you directly and there would be a link to their demo and that

2:17 Caller: another really taking the time with this product there were no rush to

2:20 Caller: to launch, they want to make sure it's the best it possibly can be.

2:20 You: Thank you.

2:27 Caller: So the quality is very good from the demo that I've had a conversation with myself.

2:35 Caller: And so, yeah, they would encourage you to give that a try in the first.

2:40 Caller: instance where they're at right now is series B there are 250 million in so far and about

2:40 You: understood then

2:47 Caller: 90 head count founded in 23 so the founders

3:00 Caller: the founders of Oculus

3:00 You: We're going to be.

3:01 Caller: and so the grand

3:04 Caller: plan for this

3:06 Caller: speech AI is to

3:08 Caller: implement it into

3:09 Caller: glasses

3:11 Caller: not like the

3:13 Caller: the ray band

3:14 Caller: the meta ray bands but

3:15 Caller: not the same

3:16 Caller: that these would be all day wearable

3:18 Caller: and not

3:20 Caller: driven by advertising and with a much stronger emphasis on qualities and the processing

3:20 You: Well, I suppose the trouble with that is how you handle background voice noise.

3:28 Caller: would happen in the cloud and not advice.

3:39 You: That's the question.

3:40 Caller: I'm sure, potentially, I don't think I'm going to have that answer.

3:40 You: for the team, I suppose.

3:45 Caller: But, yes, certainly.

3:48 Caller: But, yeah, an ambitious plan.

3:51 You: I agree.

3:52 You: So what would the next steps be?

3:53 Caller: So, the next steps would.

4:00 Caller: You, I mean, you've given me a good idea of what you're looking for, the comp that you're exploring elsewhere, so that's fine. I don't really need any of that information. I've got an idea on timelines. They would have just a question as to the

4:00 You: We're going to be.

4:20 Caller: some of the movement on

4:20 You: Well, they wouldn't be the first ones to have those questions.

4:21 Caller: your resume

4:22 Caller: just the shorter

4:25 Caller: terms

4:26 Caller: I think

4:27 Caller: no of course

4:29 You: So at Content IQ, I was asked to falsify a document by the founder, so I resigned instead.

4:30 Caller: oh right

4:37 Caller: Thank you.

4:37 You: Spotify, COVID was raging.

4:40 Caller: you know what i'm going to be able to be able to be it

4:40 You: and they were offering internally six-month severance to those who raised their hands.

4:44 You: So I raised my hand.

4:45 You: It took the six months to upskill.

4:48 You: Meta, I was, what was that?

4:51 You: Metaverse was a thing.

4:53 You: Zuck was committing to burn $10 billion a year to make Metaverse happen.

4:59 You: And Wall Street...

5:00 Caller: okay well yeah

5:00 You: was punishing meta for it. So the stock was down 60% from the recent high, and there were rumors

5:07 You: of layoff swirling. So I figured jump now before I have to compete against my soon-to-be former

5:12 You: metamates for jobs. And then I ended up at Row, and it's been a good run for the last four years.

5:20 Caller: Okay, excellent. Well, that clears it up perfectly. I appreciate that. So why, what's encouraged the move now? Just on for a new challenge.

5:20 You: So three weeks ago, a startup founder cold emailed me from my GitHub, suggesting that they, that I

5:40 Caller: Perfect.

5:40 You: interview at their startup that that process is still in flight and so I figured it's good

5:45 You: time to see how the market will value my accumulated skills knowledge and experience

5:57 Caller: Okay.

6:00 Caller: Well, thanks for clearing that up.

6:00 You: Thank you.

6:04 Caller: And, yeah, in terms of my side, I guess all I'd relax now,

6:10 Caller: which would be your preference of those two,

6:15 Caller: assuming that you're not open to moving further afield for an...

6:20 Caller: thing I have have I mean would you relocate for a for a job across the States or further

6:20 You: what do you mean moving further afield so depends on to where if it's to san francisco i would require one point five million total comp first year

6:40 Caller: Right, okay.

6:40 You: Acknowledge it's high, it is unlikely anyone will pay it, but if someone is, then I would pay attention.

6:49 Caller: Noted.

6:51 Caller: Yeah.

6:53 Caller: So, yeah, I think, given the current circumstances

6:57 Caller: in the time, lines were up against...

7:00 Caller: with the focus on the New York offices of Sesame.

7:00 You: We're going to be.

7:03 Caller: I did have a client who are San Fran or they like people who would move to their Miami office.

7:14 Caller: That is very well aligned, but I'll spare you the time of dealing with those.

7:19 Caller: They won't get.

7:20 Caller: to the 1.5 in Sam Fran and I don't know what,

7:20 You: Most don't.

7:25 You: Honestly, I haven't checked.

7:25 Caller: I don't know what your expectations to move to Miami would be.

7:30 You: So that's something I'd have to assess just the costs of living in Miami versus elsewhere.

7:36 You: elsewhere.

7:40 Caller: you're open to that then by all means I could let you know that's a it's an agenetic

7:40 You: Thank you.

7:45 Caller: startup and and they are that the product is essentially regulated environments so think

7:56 Caller: healthcare think defense

8:00 Caller: And it's just, it really has to be right.

8:00 You: Thank you.

8:02 You: Thank you.

8:02 Caller: But I'll send you a link.

8:04 You: Thank you.

8:05 Caller: Let me know if Florida was on your radar.

8:10 Caller: And if so, then, I mean, I'm sure they would jump at it

8:15 Caller: and probably have enough by the end of this week.

8:19 Caller: Never mind.

8:20 Caller: the end of the month but cool so did you have a look at the the job descriptions for sesame

8:20 You: I did.

8:28 You: So I'd probably lean more toward development

8:28 Caller: what do you what do you think in terms of their alignment i think both fit but you may have a preference

8:40 Caller: Okay.

8:40 You: developer infrastructure, but it is, there is enough overlap with the back and infrastructure

8:49 You: role.

8:50 You: It probably ends up being a wash just because my skills and my experience span both rather comfortably.

8:57 You: So that's, I guess, a discussion for

9:00 Caller: yeah okay excellent perfect okay well let's let's see where we get with it um i appreciate your time won't keep you any longer and i'll uh let you

9:00 You: sesame if they end up merging the role or expanding one over the other

9:20 Caller: know if I hear anything directly, it's very likely they would reach out to you directly to set

9:20 You: Splendid, thank you, Tommy.

9:26 Caller: something up. So keep an eye out for an email from them. And best of luck with any other

9:34 Caller: interviews that you have ongoing. Great, Jed.

9:40 Caller: So, see again soon.

9:40 You: Take care.

9:42 Caller: Bye now.
