0:00 Caller: Hey Jedd, it's Scott. How you doing?
0:00 You: This call will be recorded.
0:05 You: Hello.
0:09 You: I'm well and yourself.
0:12 Caller: Yeah, not too bad. Thank you. Does now still work?
0:15 You: Yes.
0:18 Caller: Awesome. Good stuff. I, yeah, I appreciate it back and forth on LinkedIn. Definitely wanted to chat a bit further.
0:24 Caller: I partner with, I'm not sure if you'd, well, I might have seen some whether you wrote to someone at Quantum earlier this year, but you may be aware that we partner with Tier 1, like, VC-backed startups and some mid-sized companies as well and help them to hire the right technical skillsets and your profile look to potentially be a fit for this role. I wasn't sure of your current situation, so I thought maybe worth just connecting and seeing what you're currently dealing with, and hopefully I can point you in the right direction.
0:30 You: Thank you.
0:32 You: Thank you.
0:54 Caller: what is your current situation?
0:57 Caller: Are you active on the market?
0:59 Caller: How's everything at your current role?
1:02 You: enough, I'm in final rounds with a number of other roles already, so I've been working
1:07 You: toward transitioning out, although at my level it takes a lot longer than most.
1:13 Caller: Yeah, fair enough.
1:14 Caller: When are your final rounds happening?
1:17 You: This week and next.
1:20 Caller: Okay, fair enough.
1:22 Caller: With that in mind, then, I mean, depending on how...
1:24 Caller: those interviews have gone.
1:27 Caller: Is it best to see how they go?
1:30 Caller: Because I think it'd be tough for us to catch up with other processes in the next two weeks.
1:32 You: I agree, seeing how the original outreach was, let's see, June 19, and we're talking now, how long do you think they take or flex would take to respond?
1:50 Caller: Well, they'd respond, I'd say, I'd say, within a couple of days.
1:51 Caller: I'd say within a couple of days to, like, the submission, we had a company annual retreat last week,
1:59 Caller: which is probably why we've had a bit of a delay, which is on my side.
2:01 Caller: It's not on their side.
2:02 You: I see. Okay.
2:04 Caller: So, yeah, with the...
2:07 Caller: But then again, like any interview process that we go forward for,
2:10 Caller: we'd kind of have to expedite getting up and down in two weeks,
2:16 Caller: as well as I can imagine availability is quite tough if you have a bunch of...
2:21 Caller: Well, you have...
2:21 Caller: your job and then you have a bunch of final rounds, you know, that I'm sure you want to prepare for
2:25 Caller: and everything, which is fine. You know, you're in a good position. It's a good problem to have,
2:31 Caller: per se, but, yeah, I just want to be mindful of your time.
2:32 You: Then tell you what?
2:37 You: Feel free to submit my profile with the different caveats if you think that's wise.
2:42 You: And if Flex wishes to try and compress their interview process, happy to accommodate as best I can.
2:49 You: If they're unwilling to compress, then that's just as fine as well.
2:51 Caller: Yeah.
2:54 You: If it helps your case, you're welcome to look at my website.
2:57 You: I publish a number of notes about how I use AI and how I use AI.
3:02 You: agentic AI. My recommendation is not to read the notes directly, but instead to ask whatever
3:07 You: questions you would want to answer it about my method and processes and opinions and direct your
3:13 You: preferred LLMs to draw the answers from those notes. It's probably the fastest way to consume it
3:20 You: all, to fill any gaps in your knowledge of me. And the same goes for my GitHub. That's also
3:21 Caller: Nice.
3:25 You: included in my CV. Beyond that, if
3:31 You: all of the processes end up stalling by July 10th. Is that an appropriate enough time to reach back out?
3:31 Caller: Yeah, for sure.
3:37 Caller: Yeah, for sure.
3:43 Caller: Yeah, fingers crossed, they go well, but, you know, in the case that they go well, but, you know, in the case that they don't, we can certainly reconnect and, you know,
3:49 Caller: probably have a bit more runway, but yeah, no, certainly we can, we can put that in the calendar
3:54 Caller: and, uh, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, hopefully all goes well
3:58 Caller: with your final rounds this week and next week.
4:01 You: Out of curiosity, what other roles are you working on?
4:04 Caller: Oh, there's, uh, there's a lot. I mean, it, yeah, the, the, the, I mean, like, another good problem,
4:07 You: So many, I bet.
4:13 Caller: really with quantum is that they, they, the founder had made, like, really good, um, um, relationships
4:18 Caller: with venture capital companies, and so, like, the funnel is pretty, um, continuous.
4:25 Caller: Um, what are you, like, optimizing for your next role, um, specifically?
4:31 You: it's the reason why I ask is because there is an organization AI Tinkerers that has a New York City chapter
4:38 You: from whom they organize every so often hackathon. So I imagine the winners of those different
4:44 You: hackathons would be excellent high signal candidates for your outreach.
4:48 Caller: Okay. Hey, hi, chinkers. I haven't heard of that before. What's the best way to, uh, oh, yeah, that'd be great. Awesome. Good stuff. Yeah, I appreciate that. And, um, yeah, can certainly discuss with flex in terms of the, um, the process and see how we can catch up. I'll let you know how that conversation goes either way. Um, and then I'll keep you posted. Um, but, yeah, like, say, either way, I'd help you as much as
4:53 You: I'll send you the link in our LinkedIn chat for you have it.
5:01 You: Well, sounds good. My hope is my profile is exceptional enough. They will make the exception to accommodate. If not, that's fine by
5:18 Caller: possible to expedite. So, um, hopefully we can keep in touch on this front and, um, see where it goes.
5:30 You: find by me.
5:38 You: Excellent. Thank you, Scott.
5:42 You: Take care.
